Coccinelle is a bootleg of Lady Bug, an arcade video game developed and released by Universal in 1981. It is a maze game.
Much like in Pac-Man, the player controls a ladybug that must eat small flowers scattered throughout a maze to earn points.
The scoring is as follows:
Eating a flower: 10 points × score multiplier value.
Collecting a heart: 100 points × score multiplier value.
Collecting a yellow letter: 300 points × score multiplier value.
Collecting a red letter: 800 points × score multiplier value.
Bonus vegetable: 1,000 points for the cucumber on level one, increasing by 500 points per level, up to a maximum value of 9,500 for the horseradish from level 18 onwards.
There are 99 levels in total, with no definitive end.
The player must avoid the insects and skulls that pursue them; otherwise, a life is lost.
The game features both fixed and rotating doors. Moving the rotating doors changes their orientation.
These doors are impassable for enemies, forcing them to follow the available paths.
There are also letters to collect. Spelling out the word "EXTRA" grants an extra life.
Spelling out the word "SPECIAL" awards a free game.
The game is perfectly emulated by MAME.
